Femilift - Intimate

Rejuvenation

At Georgetown OBGYN, we understand that many women may experience issues such as:

  • Uncomfortable or painful intercourse

  • Vaginal burning

  • Vaginal dryness

  • Decreased sensation

  • Laxity

  • Incontinence

  • Increased number of urinary tract infections

  • Changes in the appearance of the outer vaginal area

These symptoms can occur due to aging, menopause, vaginal childbirth, breastfeeding, or breast cancer, and they can make women feel self-conscious and uncomfortable in intimate settings. Previously, options for treatment were limited to estrogen replacements, vaginal lubricants, surgical interventions, or no treatment at all. Femilift is an innovative, nonsurgical treatment designed to improve women's intimate health with just three five-minute treatments.

What Is Femilift and How Does It Work?

Femilift is a fractionated CO2 laser that combines ablation with heat to resurface the inside of the vagina and stimulate collagen and elastin. It creates micro-injuries in the vaginal mucosa, causing the resurfacing of the vaginal interior. The tissue is heated to 60 degrees Celsius, the temperature needed to stimulate collagen and elastin production, improving moisture, elasticity, and changing the vaginal pH.

Am I a Candidate for Femilift at Georgetown OBGYN?

Many women are good candidates for Femilift laser treatments. Our physicians will evaluate you to determine if the treatment is right for you. If so, the procedure can be performed on the same day, with no rescheduling necessary.

Femilift for Incontinence: Stress Urinary Incontinence (SUI) is the loss of urine with coughing, sneezing, laughing, jumping, or exercising. It is caused by a weakening of the muscles and tissues that support the bladder and urethra. Common causes of SUI include age, vaginal deliveries, and genetics.

Treatment for SUI may include Kegel exercises, pelvic floor physical therapy, and surgical slings. For some women, these treatments may not be sufficient, and they may not want to undergo surgery. For these women, we offer the option of Femilift laser treatment.

How Does Femilift Work for SUI?

Femilift is a fractionated CO2 laser that heats the tissues supporting the bladder neck and urethra, stimulating collagen and elastin. This plumps the tissues and provides support to the area, thereby improving or resolving the symptoms of SUI.

Is Femilift Right for Me?

SUI requires a thorough evaluation to determine the best treatment for each patient. Femilift is a great treatment option for many women, but it may not be right for everyone. Our physicians at Georgetown OBGYN will determine if you are a suitable candidate for this treatment.
